Ship Happens

The M/V Artemis on the beach in France after the weekend's storms.

Now, what are they going to do?

In this case, I'm not exactly sure. The usual approach involves offloading fuel and cargo to lighten the ship, waiting for a high tide, and then pulling it off with tugs. The good news here is the sandy beach. The bad news is that the ship lies parallel to the shoreline.

In the worst cases, they either cut the ship apart on the beach or just leave it there.

Cargolaw, from whom I shamelessly stole the title of this post, hasn't picked up the Artemis story. However, they have information on other groundings including one with a sweet Casey connection.
